The Illinois Patriot Education Fund’s mission was founded on the spirit of “We Can Do More,” our country has shown over and over again, in times of need from 9/11 to Katrina, that we can come together to help one another. This is no exception. Please become a pledge today and help us create a movement to ensure our Illinois military families are provided the best education possible.

Medinah Patriot Day is the hallmark fund raising event of Illinois Patriot Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) founded in Chicago whose mission is to raise scholarship funds on behalf of the spouses and children of Illinois military service men and women who have given their lives or become disabled in service to our country. We also support the education of active duty members of our Armed Services over and above the benefits provided by the Post-911 GI Bill.  One hundred percent of the funds raised remain in Illinois and are earmarked to help our troops and their families to pursue their educational dreams. Join us in June and help make a difference and ensure that the legacy of these brave men and women lives on for generations to come.

What is the GOLF-A-THON CHALLENGE?

First, this effort costs you NOTHING.

Second, this is a way to make your donation and your entry fee go further and win prizes at the same time!  It is also a way for you to EARN your way into the playing field to be a part of Medinah Patriot Day.  Through our partnership with Operation Homefront and Razoo, the top three fundraisers will win a prize.   All are welcome to help with our grass roots effort.

We make it easy for you to ask your family, friends and co-workers for modest pledges to support our Illinois military families.  Everyone wins because golfers raise incremental funds instead of just paying an entry fee.

Here’s what’s possible when you play and pledge 18 holes during Medinah Patriot Day:

18 holes with a pledge of $18 (a buck a hole) x 50 supporters/pledges = $900
18 holes with an individual pledge of $26 x 100 supporters/pledges = $2,600

5 HELPFUL TIPS TO ENSURE YOUR PLEDGING SUCCESS

Tip #1: Spread the word

Take advantage of your Facebook page, your Twitter account, and your email. We know it may be obvious, but these tools really help your fundraiser get attention. Reach out to your network of friends, family, and volunteers to share this opportunity to make a lasting contribution to your cause.

Tip #2: Set a specific goal

Trying to raise money without setting a goal is like trying to run a race without having a finish line. People aren’t clear on what you’re trying to accomplish, what you’ve already accomplished, or when you have reached your goal. Individuals who set fundraising goals consistently raise more money than those who don’t.

Tip #3: Personalize your page

You can edit your fundraising page anytime, so make your page reflect you. Add a fun picture or, better yet, a creative video telling folks why they should give to your page. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Consider incorporating this video HERE if you like.  Taking 5-10 minutes to really tell your story will make a huge difference!

Tip #4: Communicate your purpose

If people are going to give to your page, they will want to know what their money is going to accomplish. Take the time to explain what the dollars they are giving will be going to.

Tip #5: Don’t give up!

Don’t be deterred. Keep sending out emails, posting daily Facebook updates, and tweeting about the work you are doing. Persistence will pay off!
